Snake Repellant
Due to the high risk of snake bites, snake repellant solutions are a must in certain parts of the globe. At present, some manufacturers have come up with special snake repellant systems, yet, besides professional assistance, there are basic things that you can turn to so as lower the chances of snakes choosing your garden to make their den. Among the favorite snake environments, ponds, shrubs and bushes occupy top positions, as they provide a great hiding corner to stalk on prey; moreover, when there is a lot of shrubbery in the garden, snakes can travel from one spot to another without difficulty. Therefore, a first snake repellant solution is to keep thick vegetation away from the house.
Then, mowing the lawn regularly makes another great snake repellant method since too high grass can camouflage snakes pretty well. Moreover, such a lawn represents the perfect environment for some of the favorite meals in the menu of a snake: mice and other small rodents, frogs, locusts and crickets. A short lawn will be avoided by snakes as an unsafe space that makes them easy prey for other predatory species like owls or hawks. Crowded areas close to the house could pose just the same risk of, turning into abodes for venomous or non-venomous snakes. Hence, do not allow any piles of wood, open sheds and compost heaps from the yard.
In African wilderness, local people knit camel or goat hair ropes as great snake repellant means: snakes do not slither over such rough surfaces. Aborigines will often surround their bed location with such ropes to eliminate or at least reduced the risk of deadly bites from some of the most venomous African snakes. A similar snake repellent principle is followed in tent design, thus there are usually nets that have to be zipped up in order to prevent snakes and other insects from getting inside. Always check whether the entrance of the tent is well zipped, preferably in the upper part of the tent closing area, or else you could end up sharing your bed with uninvited guests.
Snake repellant solutions do exist in other forms too and they include special window sill protections, foams, nets or traps. Many such equipments are considered unfair according to animal rights protection. Hence, it is probably a very good idea that you go for the harmless snake repellant solutions. If by any chance you come across lethal snakes living in your garden, do not attempt to kill or chase them away, as they will attack when threatened. Turn to some pest control service and have the animals safely relocated in a wild area, and no harm will be done to either party.
